Whilst in Kingston and Montreal recently, I picked up a good selection of random used French books--romance novels, detective stories, science-fiction, and more. One of the books was a spy novel, Ultimatum Pour OSS 117. Wikipedia informs me that this was one of over 200 books published in the series, which started before James Bond came on the scene--apparently an OSS 117 spoof movie was recently big in France. Anyway, I'm not sure if the jump from reading teen books to reading adult books was too much for me or what, but I had a very hard time following the story--there's a couple of good secret agents, a lot of bad guys, and a diamond-smuggling ring in Venezuela. From the cover, I was expecting a fun, fast-paced, moderately sexy easy-to-read romp. Instead, it was just kinda boring.
